In 2008, Karen Armstrong won a prestigious TED Prize, and made her wish: a Charter for Compassion with the Golden Rule at it’s center. It's creation, in 2008, was an open and collaborative effort, with people of all nations, all faiths, all backgrounds, submitting their own words for inclusion in the Charter.
Thousands of people from over 100 countries added their voice to the writing of the Charter. In a six-week period, thousands of submissions were entered which were then read and commented upon by over 150,000 visitors. These contributions were then reviewed and incorporated into the final document. Here is Karen Armstrong's TED presentation: |
